Just like Fit to Be Dead – Dang Near Dead is a humorous cozy mystery that takes the reader all over the place. There are different threads to the craziness that don’t seem to be connected and then all of a sudden something happens or is said and everything falls into place.

The characters are well-developed and unique, as is the context and plot line. West combines humor and mystery to create an entertaining story.

About This Author
I’ve been writing since age seven: poems back and forth with my mom. I had a real poem published in the Library Journal, Pegasus, at age fifteen. At eighteen, I wanted to study journalism and English literature, but friends who chose that college route were making minimum wage or selling lingerie. Being practical, I earned a business degree. After marriage and two children, I decided I HAD to study literature and write. I wrote non-fiction articles, a biography, and a suspense novel in 2004. That’s when whimsical Aggie Mundeen cut through the suspense, popped into my head and demanded her own series. The Aggie Mundeen mystery capers were born. Aggie must have been right: FIT TO BE DEAD is a LEFTY FINALIST 2013 for best humorous mystery, nominated by Left Coast Crime.

FIRST IN A NEW SERIES
Swimming into the lifeless body of her husband’s mistress tends to ruin a woman’s day, but becoming a murder suspect can ruin her whole life.
It’s 1974 and Ellison Russell’s life revolves around her daughter and her art. She’s long since stopped caring about her cheating husband, Henry, and the women with whom he entertains himself. That is, until she becomes a suspect in Madeline Harper’s death. The murder forces Ellison to confront her husband’s proclivities and his crimes—kinky sex, petty cruelties and blackmail.
As the body count approaches par on the seventh hole, Ellison knows she has to catch a killer. But with an interfering mother, an adoring father, a teenage daughter, and a cadre of well-meaning friends demanding her attention, can Ellison find the killer before he finds her.
My review:
I enjoyed reading this book. You get introduced to Ellison Russell and her family. The story line is well done and the characters are so real it's as if you are right there with them. You will be hooked on this whodunit from the start. This debut novel will keep you wanting more. I am looking forward to the next one.
Guest Post:
This is my first blog post for my first book and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be here.
The Deep End is the first book in the Country Club Murder Series and is set in 1974 which means that my heroine, Ellison Russell, lives in a world most of us would hardly recognize. Women were still coming into their own. In 1974, women weren’t even roaring. Yet. They were struggling to find their place in their homes, in the working world and in the world at large.
Ellison Russell is an artist in an unhappy marriage - part of that unhappiness caused by her earning more than her banker husband. When she discovers her husband’s mistress’s corpse in the country club pool she knows she’ll become a suspect.
Of course, I wasn’t a suspect. Yet. I would be as soon as the detective with the nice brown eyes learned that the woman who found Madeline had a good reason to kill her. He’d find out. No doubt about it. Madeline and Henry hadn’t been discreet. Not remotely.
Getting caught in the coatroom at the club Christmas party was the rough equivalent of renting a billboard. Apparently rubbing Roger’s and my noses in their affair was part of the fun.
I gave it an hour before some helpful, civic-minded woman who spent her days playing tennis or golf or sunning called Detective Jones and told him all about it. I took a deep breath of air scented with damp grass and chlorine. “Madeline was sleeping with my husband.”

Ellison struggles mightily against her mother and her peers’ expectations of her. As much as it is a mystery, The Deep End is the story of her journey to strength.

Of course, Ellison didn’t struggle alone. Anyone remember this gem?

What commercials do you remember from the seventies?
