The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Blog tour and giveaway- Address to Die for by Mary Feliz

I am excited to be part of this blog tour. Mary Feliz is here today with her brand new book series. Address to Die For was released on July 19th.

Paperback: 250 pages
Publisher: Lyrical Underground (July 19, 2016)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1601836643

For professional organizer Maggie McDonald, moving her family into a new home should be the perfect organizational challenge. But murder was definitely not on the to-do list . . .

Maggie McDonald has a penchant for order that isn’t confined to her clients’ closets, kitchens, and sock drawers. As she lays out her plan to transfer her family to the hundred-year-old house her husband, Max, has inherited in the hills above Silicon Valley, she has every expectation for their new life to fall neatly into place. But as the family bounces up the driveway of their new home, she’s shocked to discover the house’s dilapidated condition. When her husband finds the caretaker face-down in their new basement, it’s the detectives who end up moving in. What a mess! While the investigation unravels and the family camps out in a barn, a killer remains at large—exactly the sort of loose end Maggie can’t help but clean up . . .

Address to Die for is an engaging debut. Right from the start you get drawn in to the story and moving day. With fresh new characters and a strong story, you won't be able to put this one down. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one.

Guess the Mystery hosted by Jenny Kales

Happy Wednesday! Today's Guess the Mystery host is Jennifer Kales. Leave your answer and email in the comments below for a chance to win an e-copy of On the Chopping Block. Good Luck!

“Yassou, Dad.” Callie smiled at her father. Her facial muscles felt frozen in place and her heart was pounding – the last thing she needed was a discussion about going to the police station to report on the murder of a boyfriend her father didn’t even know she had. Hoping that George was in a hurry, Callie tried to act normal. Maybe he’d leave before he figured out what Sands was doing there.

“What brings you here today?” she asked George, while shooting Sands a furtive look.
Her father wrapped Callie in one of his signature bear hugs. It seemed that he held her even more tightly than usual. “Dad,” she said. “I can’t breathe.”
George loosened his grip. “Okay, breathe, breathe. I was in the neighborhood so I thought I’d check on your business, see it it’s picked up any, George said, sitting down at the table closest to the cashier station. Leave it to her father to start right in with concerns for her business. If only he’d seen the crowds just half an hour before, but that wouldn’t have been good, come to think of it, not with all the talk about Drew.

About the Author

Award-winning writer and blogger Jenny Kales worked for years as a freelancer and is thrilled to have released her debut cozy mystery novel. Kales’ marriage into a Greek-American Midwestern family inspired The Callie's Kitchen mysteries, featuring Calliope “Callie” Costas, food business owner and amateur sleuth. The setting of the story, "Crystal Bay," is inspired by a favorite family vacation spot - Wisconsin's beautiful Geneva Lakes.

Ms. Kales is an avid reader, cook and baker and she's addicted to mystery TV, especially anything on Masterpiece Mystery or BBC America. She lives just outside of Chicago with her husband, two daughters and a cute but demanding Yorkshire terrier, and is hard at work on the next novel in the Callie’s Kitchen mystery series.

As a volunteer with the Ottawa Police Service for over 15 years, she developed a strong, sometimes scary interest in police procedures. She wrote weekly crime stats articles for the local community newspapers for them, along with stories for the OPS internal newsletter. She also sang with the Ottawa Police Chorus for several years and now sings with two (other) choirs.

Publisher: Touchstone (June 7, 2016)

An instant page-turner (Lisa Gardner) that straddles the line between thriller and horror...sure to appeal to a wide range of readers, including Stephen King fans. (Booklist, starred) A young woman's mysterious gift forces her into the middle of a dangerous investigation of a little girl's disappearance.

Twenty-year-old Finley Montgomery is rarely alone. Visited by people whom others can't see and haunted by prophetic dreams, she has never been able to control or understand the things that happen to her. When Finley's abilities start to become too strong for her to handle - and even the roar of her motorcycle or another dazzling tattoo can't drown out the voices - she turns to the only person she knows who can help her: her grandmother Eloise Montgomery, a renowned psychic living in The Hollows, New York.

Merri Gleason is a woman at the end of her tether after a ten-month-long search for her missing daughter, Abbey. With almost every hope exhausted, she resorts to hiring Jones Cooper, a detective who sometimes works with psychic Eloise Montgomery. Merri's not a believer, but she's just desperate enough to go down that road, praying that she's not too late. Time, she knows, is running out.

As a harsh white winter moves into The Hollows, Finley and Eloise are drawn into the investigation, which proves to have much more at stake than even the fate of a missing girl. As Finley digs deeper into the town and its endless layers, she is forced to examine the past, even as she tries to look into the future. Only one thing is clear: The Hollows gets what it wants, no matter what.

It is time for Guess the Mystery and this weeks host is the lovely Peg Cochran. Can you guess which book this is taken from? The winner will receive a copy of Berried Secrets. Leave answer and email in the comments below for a chance to win. Winner will be chosen on Saturday. Good Luck!

As Meg London:
Sweet Nothings Lingerie Series

Peg grew up in a New Jersey suburb about 25 miles outside of New York City. After college, she moved to the city where she managed an art gallery owned by the son of the artist Henri Matisse. When her first daughter, Francesca, arrive, the new family moved back to the New Jersey suburbs where her second daughter, Annabelle, was born.

After her husband died, Peg remarried and her new husband took a job in Grand Rapids, Michigan where they now live (on exile from New Jersey, she likes to joke). Peg managed to segue from the art world to marketing and is now the manager of marketing communications for a company that provides services to seniors.

Her greatest love though as always been writing - particularly mysteries! She has two cozy mystery series from Berkley Prime Crime: The Gourmet De-Lite series set in Connecticut and featuring Gigi Fitzgerald, who provides gourmet diet meals to a select group of clients, and the Sweet Nothings Vintage Lingerie series, written as Meg London, set in Paris, Tennessee with Emma Taylor who finds murder and mayhem in this quiet country town.

As for pets - she has a schizophrenic cat (really!) named Frazzle and a Westhighland White Terrier, Reggie, who is desperately in need of losing a few pounds. But you know what they say: If your dog is overweight, it means YOU aren't getting enough exercise!

When she's not writing, Peg can usually be found cooking, which she loves. When asked to bring a dish to a potluck she invariably opts to bring dessert - partly because she loves making sweet dishes and partly because she and her husband always manage to be late so there's no point in putting them in charge of appetizers!

Peg loves connecting with readers and other writhers so feel free to drop her an email via her contact page! And be sure to visit her other site at www.MegLondon.com.

First in the Series- Well Read then Dead by Terrie Farley Moran

Happy Monday- it is time for this week's First in the Series and it goes out to Terrie Farley Moran with her book Well Read, Then Dead (a Read Em and Eat Mystery series) Book one was released on August 5th 2014.

Series: Read Em and Eat Mystery (Book 1)
Mass Market Paperback: 304 pages
Publisher: Berkley (August 5, 2014)
Language: English

First in a new series!

Nestled in the barrier islands of Florida’s Gulf Coast, Fort Myers Beach is home to Mary “Sassy” Cabot and Bridget Mayfield—owners of the bookstore café, Read ’Em and Eat. But when they’re not dishing about books or serving up scones, Sassy and Bridgy are keeping tabs on hard-boiled murder.

Read ’Em and Eat is known for its delicious breakfast and lunch treats, along with quite a colorful clientele. If it’s not Rowena Gustavson loudly debating the merits of the current book club selection, it’s Miss Augusta Maddox lecturing tourists on rumors of sunken treasure among the islands. It’s no wonder Sassy’s favorite is Delia Batson, a regular at the Emily Dickinson table. Augusta’s cousin and best friend Delia is painfully shy—which makes the news of her murder all the more shocking.

No one is more distraught than Augusta, and Sassy wants to help any way she can. But Augusta doesn’t have time for sympathy. She wants Delia’s killer found—and she’s not taking no for an answer. Now Sassy is on the case, and she’d better act fast before there’s any more trouble in paradise.

Includes a buttermilk pie recipe!

Guess the Mystery hosted by Alyssa Maxwell

Happy Wednesday!! It's time to play Guess the Mystery and this week's host is Alyssa Maxwell. The winner may pick any one of my Gilded Newport Books: Murder at The Breakers, Murder at Marble House, Murder at Beechwood, or an ARC of Murder at Rough Point. Winner will be chosen on Saturday. Leave answer and email in the comments below. Good Luck!

Our conversation had turned to lighter topics—Grace’s winter in Italy, her spring in Paris, and the excursions, parties, and shopping she had enjoyed. Neily had been present throughout most of those months, which she termed a happy, carefree time. In spite of the Wilsons’ lack of open ostentation, they lived nonetheless luxuriously, and I schooled the incredulity from my features as Grace spoke of their extravagances as casually as I spoke of the weather.

Yet I paid careful attention to the details, and her chatter provided me with ample information to rule out a number of young ladies as having potentially birthed a child in recent weeks. The delay in reaching the house also provided me with an opportunity to broach the subject foremost on my mind, yet without revealing too much about the baby in my care. It’s not that I had cause to distrust Grace, but this sudden friendship of ours, if that was what it was to be called, had yet to be fully tested. I thought it best to err on the side of caution and not mention my newest visitor at Gull Manor.

“There have been rumors among members of the press,” I said to her, not liking to lie but seeing little alternative, “of an indelicate nature . . .”

With just those words, she understood my meaning. “Do tell? Who, may I ask . . .”

I happily fell back on the truth as I explained that I hadn’t yet discovered the identity of the woman in question, but that not only could an inheritance be at stake, but the child’s welfare as well, and for that reason I wished to ascertain his origins.

Author Spotlight- Diane Vallere

Happy Tuesday!! Today's author spotlight is Fashionista Diane Vallere. Diane is the author of The Material Witness Series, Mad for Mod mystery series and the Style and Error Fashion Mystery series.

Diane's Full Story:

When 20-year retail fashion veteran Diane Vallere left life in the corporate offices of a high status luxury retailer and moved to sunny California, it was with the intention to trade fashion accessories for accessories to murder. That was 2007. Armed with a series concept that she belived in--former fashion buyer turns amateur sleuth--she polished and revised her ideas, got involved in her local chapter of Sisters in Crime, and actively sought her big break. That break came in 2009, when her first manuscript, JUST KIDDING, won the RWA Get Your Stiletto in the Door contest. This later became DESIGNER DIRTY LAUNDRY, the first Style & Error Mystery.

Taking this as a sign that she was on the right track, Diane continued her search for an agent and submitted a short story to FISH TALES: The Guppy Anthology. It was accepted, and the collection was published in 2011. This became Diane's first publication credit.

Writing that short story taught her that she could write more than one character and opened up a world of possible stories. Diane continued to write new material while submitting her work to agents, dabbling in Women's Fiction, Middle Grade, and non-fiction/biography. In addition to the Style & Error series that she was already querying, she started another series featuring an interior decorator with a not-small interest in Doris Day movies, which became the Madison Night Mysteries, currently published by Henery Press.

Diane started Polyester Press, her own publishing imprint, in 2011, with the intent to create a niche publisher focused on fashionable fiction. Unbeknownst to her, a pre-press copy of DESIGNER DIRTY LAUNDRY was forwarded to a senior editor at Penguin Publishing, who expressed interest in seeing the book rewritten to fit their catalog. Diane declined but offered to submit a different idea written specifically for them. This became the Material Witness Mystery series, launched in 2014. She also signed with agent Jessica Faust of Bookends Literary Agency. Soon after signing as a client, Jessica proposed and sold the Costume Shop Mystery Series to Penguin Random House, making it a fourth series. The first, A DISGUISE TO DIE FOR, came out February 2, 2016.

Diane has taken big risks in life: first in moving from her hometown in eastern Pennsylvania to Dallas, Texas for her fashion career, taking a step backward on the corporate ladder in order to enter the most reputable buyer training program in the country. Three years after that move, she received the Chairman's Risk Taker Award for her savvy business performance as Couture Foundations and Hosiery Buyer. Five years later, she took another risk, moving from Texas to California to reprioritize her life and focus on her writing career.

Diane is the Vice President of Sisters in Crime and believes that her involvement in this organization played a significant role in her publication journey. She is also a firm believer in not just following your dreams, but in creating a roadmap of goals, tasks, and benchmarks to keep on track. She claims that being a textbook Capricorn accounts for her drive, though she's never been a big fan of being told there's something she can't do.

Head on over and check out Diane's website, it is awesome!

Someone is dressed to kill in the debut Costume Shop Mystery from the national bestselling author of the Material Witness mysteries.

Wealthy nuisance Blitz Manners needs forty costumes for a detective-themed birthday bash. As for Blitz himself, his Sherlock Holmes is to die for—literally—when, in the middle of the festivities, Margo’s friend and party planner Ebony Welles is caught brandishing a carving knife over a very dead Blitz.

For Margo, clearing Ebony’s name is anything but elementary, especially after Ebony flees town. Now Margo is left to play real-life detective in a town full of masked motives, cloaked secrets, and veiled vendettas. But as she soon learns, even a killer disguise can’t hide a murderer in plain sight for long.

FIRST IN A NEW SERIES!

Diane Vallere is a former fashion buyer turned mystery writer, trading fashion accessories for accessories to murder. She writes the Style & Error, Madison Night, Material Witness, and the new Costume Shop Cozy Mysteries. She started her own detective agency at age 10 and has maintained a passion for shoes, clues, and clothes ever since.

The Style & Error Fashion Mystery Series features former fashion buyer turned amateur sleuth Samantha Kidd. Books in that series include DESIGNER DIRTY LAUNDRY; BUYER, BEWARE; THE BRIM REAPER; SOME LIKE IT HAUTE; and GRAND THEFT RETRO. (A short story, "Just Kidding," tells the story of how Samantha first met shoe designer Nick Taylor).

The Madison Night Mysteries feature a modern day interior decorator who specializes in mid-century design (studying Doris Day movies to get the look right). Books are PILLOW STALK, THAT TOUCH OF INK, and WITH VICS YOU GET EGGROLL. A prequel novella, "Midnight Ice," can be found in OTHER PEOPLE'S BAGGAGE.

The Material Witness mysteries feature Polyester Monroe, who inherits the fabric shop where she was born. Books include SUEDE TO REST and CRUSHED VELVET. The third, SILK STALKINGS, will be out in August 2016.

The Costume Shop mysteries debuted with A DISGUISE TO DIE FOR, which introduces Margo Tamblyn, costume shop owner, who helps solve a murder after one of her clients is found dead at his own costume party (dressed as Sherlock!). MASKING FOR TROUBLE, the second in the series, will be out in October 2016, just in time for Halloween.

Diane loves to hear from readers! You can connect with her on social media or email. Telepathy works, too. Sometimes.

Non- Cozy Mystery - The Heist by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg

Happy Saturday! Today's Non Cozy- Mystery is The Heist (Fox and O'Hara Mystery) by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg.

Series: Fox and O'Hare (Book 1)
Mass Market Paperback: 400 pages
Publisher: Bantam (February 25, 2014)
Language: English

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From Janet Evanovich, #1 bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum novels, and Lee Goldberg, bestselling author and television writer for Monk, comes the first adventure in an electrifying series featuring an FBI agent who always gets her man, and a fearless con artist who lives for the chase.

FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world’s most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she’s cared about is Nicolas Fox—an international crook she wants in more ways than one.

Audacious, handsome, and dangerously charming, Nicolas Fox is a natural con man, notorious for running elaborate scams on very high-profile people. At first he did it for the money. Now he does it for the thrill. He knows that the FBI has been hot on his trail—particularly Kate O’Hare, who has been watching his every move. For Nick, there’s no greater rush than being pursued by a beautiful woman . . . even one who aims to lock him up. But just when it seems that Nicolas Fox has been captured for good, he pulls off his greatest con of all: He convinces the FBI to offer him a job, working side by side with Special Agent Kate O’Hare.

Problem is, teaming up to stop a corrupt investment banker who’s hiding on a private island in Indonesia is going to test O’Hare’s patience and Fox’s skill. Not to mention the skills of their ragtag team made up of flamboyant actors, wanted wheelmen, and Kate’s dad. High-speed chases, pirates, and Toblerone bars are all in a day’s work . . . if O’Hare and Fox don’t kill each other first.

Praise for The Heist

“The Heist is the perfect title to carry on a trip to the beach. The laugh out loud humor that readers expect from Evanovich is in full force, and Goldberg’s crafty and elaborate writing is prominent. . . . Everyone will be eager for the next book in the series.”—Associated Press

“The action is fast-paced and the writing is first-rate, making The Heist an excellent choice for vacation reading.”—Huntington News

The hardcover edition of The Heist contains stickers—“I ‘Heart’ Plum” and “The Con Is On”—and a sneak peek from the next Stephanie Plum novel!
