Blog Tour- Yarned and Dangerous by Sadie Hartwell

I'm a knitter and crocheter and am thrilled to be on this blog tour. Sadie Hartwell's debut book Yarned and Dangerous was released on November 24th.

Series: A Tangled Web Mystery (Book 1)
Paperback: 288 pages
Publisher: Kensington (November 24, 2015)
Language: English

“A tale of murder and intrigue that will ensnare knitters and non-knitters alike. I couldn’t put it down.”—Barbara Ross, author of Musseled Out

Time has not been kind to sleepy Dorset Falls, Connecticut, where an erstwhile resident is hoping to bring a tattered yarn shop back to life—but with a murderer on the loose, the whole town is in knots…

Josie Blair left Dorset Falls twelve years ago in hopes of making it big in New York City. But after earning an overpriced master’s degree and getting fired by a temperamental designer, she finds herself heading back to her hometown. Her great-uncle was injured in a car accident, and newly unemployed Josie is the only person available to take care of him. Uncle Eb’s wife didn’t survive the crash, so Josie is also tasked with selling the contents of her Aunt Cora’s yarn shop. But the needling ladies of the Charity Knitters Association pose a far bigger challenge than a shop full of scattered skeins…

Miss Marple Knits is one of the few businesses still open in the dreary downtown. Josie can’t imagine how it stayed open for so long, yet something about the cozy, resilient little shop appeals to her. But when one of the town’s most persnickety knitters turns up dead in a pile of cashmere yarn, Josie realizes there’s something truly twisted lurking beneath the town’s decaying façade…

INCLUDES ORIGINAL KNITTING PATTERNS!

This whodunit was a fantastic read. Meet Josie and her great uncle as she head home to help her uncle sell her aunts yarn shop. But when a murder takes place and Josie finds out it is one of the towns knitters she has to find out what happened and who the killer is before she is in a tangled mess. You will love this story and like me will be eagerly waiting the next one. You will be hooked from the start.

Secrets and Lies. Truth is, pretty much all mystery fiction has at its heart a secret, or secrets. Or a lie, or lies. A villain commits a murder or other crime, then tries to cover it up. A suspect has a hidden agenda or a background that, if brought to light, could tie him/her to the murder. Even a protagonist may have something in her past that the reader doesn’t yet know, something that gives her a driving reason to investigate.
And of course, fiction is just a nicer way of saying made up. So, just as Seinfield was a show about nothing, mystery fiction is a lie about lies!
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. Lies are interesting. Secrets are fascinating. And because it’s a story, the reader knows they aren’t real. Unlike lies and secrets in real life, fictional ones can’t deceive or hurt you. Not only that, the reader has the right to expect—based on a promise from the author—that the truth will eventually be revealed and all will be right with the fictional world.
I wish we could have that guarantee in real life. The fact that we can’t, that bad things happen with no guarantee of a satisfying resolution, is the reason I love my cozy mysteries—reading, and writing them. Because in Cozyland, justice is always served with a heaping-helping side dish of truth. So, readers, I hope you’ll join me in loving the lie!

She attended St. Lawrence University, graduating with a degree in history, and has worked as a waitress, handbag designer/manufacturer, office person, and copy editor before turning to writing full time. Now she gets to play with recipes and yarn and make up stories whenever she wants, and wishes everyone had a job as much fun as hers.
