Paige Shelton stops by today

Hey everyone, It is a pleasure to have Paige Shelton with us today!

Her New book A Killer Maize is coming out Dec. 4th, Yep that is tomorrow all, so head out to your bookstores and pick up a copy.

Overview

Becca Robbins is selling her farm-made jams and preserves at a county fair where business is not the only thing that’s dead…
The last person Becca expects to run into at the Swayton County Fall Festival is her ex-husband, Scott Triplett, who’s operating a shooting gallery. Honesty was not always Scott’s policy, and their unexpected reunion is further complicated when the festival becomes a crime scene. On Becca’s second day there, Ferris wheel operator Virgil Morrison is found hanging from his rickety ride, dead from a gunshot.
As Becca starts to notice Scott suspiciously sneaking around the fairgrounds, she begins to worry her ex may be involved in the murder. Then there’s the shadow she sees in the creepy corn maze and rumors of a gypsy curse—not to mention Virgil’s mysterious spider tattoo. Now Becca must search through a labyrinth of lies, secrets, and superstition to find a kernel of truth…before the killer starts stalking her.

My interview with Paige: Thank you much for visiting with us today !

Tell us about your self.

Hi, Shelley – thanks for letting me stop by today.

Let’s see, I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, after college at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Once out of school and before I started writing fulltime I worked in advertising, and the majority of that career was spent with the local Salt Lake City newspapers. I enjoyed newspaper advertising, and I now have a sense that I was privileged to be a part of that industry toward the end of its paper-only existence.

I’m married and I have one son who just turned eighteen – college is right around the corner. I spend most of my time writing and trying to fit in a little reading – there just aren’t enough hours in the day. I really don’t have a hobby other than a little crochet every now and then, but, again, it’s hard to find the time. I love Diet Pepsi, zombie movies, and putting my iPod on shuffle when I’m writing.

Tell us how this series came about?

The Farmers’ Market series came about as the result of a brainstorming session with my agent. She’d tried to sell a paranormal mystery I’d written, but since that didn’t look like it was going to happen, she and I discussed other ideas. She’s the one who came up with the farmers’ market idea – it just felt right so I got to work writing it. She sold it quickly.

What are you working on now?

I have recently turned in book five of the Farmers’ Market series (a Christmas story that still doesn’t have a title) and book three of the Cooking School series (IF BREAD COULD RISE TO THE OCCASION). Right now, I’m writing book four of the Cooking School series.

What is your favorite thing about this series?

The characters. Becca and her nosiness make me smile, and I love her boldness. I have also enjoyed writing about her love life. She chooses her guy in A KILLER MAIZE.  It was truly the most emotional book I’ve ever written because of how she handled her decision.

What book are you reading now?

I just started THE ANATOMIST’S WIFE by Anna Lee Huber. So far, I really like it.

  3. Like Paige, I love reading but seem to have very little time to devote to it. If I won her book, though, I would find the time!
